Should You Hire a Wedding Planner?

You have just said yes and now your mind is going in circles trying to decide on the type of dress, the venue, decor and color theme.  We are all so busy in today’s world and the thought of balancing work and home is a challenge in itself and now you are adding the planning and preparation for a wedding.  Hiring a wedding planner can help alleviate your stress and time.

You need to do some research and set up appointments with them.   Ask for referrals from other brides to make sure they were happy.  It is so important that you and the planner get along as you will be spending many months working closely with them.  If the relationship does not feel right at the beginning then go with your gut and find someone else.

A wedding planner will do all the leg work for you.  You must first establish a budget and what you are looking for.  The planner will then act on your behalf with all wedding vendors and get all the information you need to make the appropriate decisions, while staying within your budget.  They have the training and experience to do the ground work and make sure it all works the way you want it to, while you relax and enjoy.  Most planners are very detailed and organized by nature so making the wedding process a warm welcome from any bride.

The planner will take care of everything from the rehearsal to the day of the wedding attending to every detail; coordination of limo, photographer, ceremony and venue site decor and set up.  They are available to take care of any last minute issues or problems that may occur.

You need to decide if hiring a wedding planner works for you and fits in your overall budget.  If you don’t have the time and energy to devout hours to the planning of your wedding then let a professional take care of it for you.   They have planned countless weddings so they know what will or won’t work.  They can act as a buffer should arguments surface among family members.  Believe me this happens all the time because of the stress involved in planning a wedding.

The final decision is yours but if you choose not to hire a planner remember to welcome help from family members or friends.  Wedding planning is so much fun , I know, I have been doing it for years.  Enjoy the planning stages and don’t let the small stuff bother you.  Time will fly by so fast that when it’s all over you will sit back and wish the day could have lasted a little longer.

Excellent post. I also think that brides should know the difference between a planner and a day of coordinator. Totally different in scope of work and duties
